RF 433Mhz support??
Hi all! I made a quick search in the discussions but could not find anything related to RF for NEEO.
i have a couple of RF devices at home.
1) motorized projector screen
2) boxee box (don't use it that much any more)
3) a couple of NEXA wall plugs.
If i remember correctly, neeo brain/remote will not have the hardware to support RF devices at this moments. The neeo team answered me a long time ago that many requests for this had been made and that they might develop something for the future to make this supported.
i wonder if that is still the case and if I should simply forget to have any control of my projector screen and wall plus at this point.
For such questions the best is to check the specifications on the NEEO Brain page. Unfortunately Paul Spee is right, with the current hardware we can not support RF @ 433 MHz directly.
The Intertechno devices listed on works with NEEO are the very few ones from Intertechnio which allow IR control.
As for the moment we do not have an adapter ready and it is not coming soon. But there are always solutions to get this working, I have for example seen projects which are WiFi-to-433 adapters based on Arduinos, these could then be controlled with our SDK. There are also z-wave to 433 bridges if I remember correctly (i.e this one), but we have not tested any of these. There are pretty cheap adapters out there which might be worth checking out, for example this one.
Patrick thank you for clearing this up!
seems to me that RF (especially the 433Mhz) is broadly used within consumer electronics and media equipment and i wonder why this did not make it to the final product?
Its a bit unfortunate that I still have to keep the controller for my lights (might buy something that works with neeo instead) and for my projector screen, although I will have a look at your recommendations to find a work-around.
looking forward to my neeo!
I have just checked our devices again:
ITLR-300 is infrared controlled.
But I completely agree with you for the PA3-1000. This one is gone from our DB.
The following devices require an infrared adapter:
Now the problem is, these adapters are mostly not in production anymore. But for all the people still owning one, I want to let them stay in the DB. But I'm gonna add a warning regarding the adapter.
In the meantime we are going to talk about it here in office. Maybe they will disappear completely.
Also glad I found this one! We've got a few RF controlled outlets (these here) that I was afraid would forever have to use their own remote! (Ok, not forever, but long enough...🙂) It might be a little while before I can order new devices, but that Sonoff bridge looks like it might be a good start. An RF to z-wave adapter sounds even better to me, but I think that one might be out of my budget for a little while.
It appears the Sonoff bridge makes it so that RF devices can be controlled by a phone app (From what I read, it looks like it has its own app?) How would NEEO control it from there? Through the SDK?
Vidya Travis I honestly do not have any experience with that Sonoff device, I don't even know if there is an SDK available or if they support all RF devices or just specific ones. At the moment I don't find the time to dive deeper into that topic.
It would be very cool if somebody could give this device a try, that would be a "pretty cheap adapter" if it works out.
There is loads of information available for Sonoff and might be reasonable(cheap) way to bridge rf with NEEO
Perhaps someone could write custom firmware to make it work with NEEO.

rfxcom on domoticz
For anyone interested, this YouTube https://youtu.be/QEjFyPi7OTg explained rfxcom and domoticz . I had no clue about either, nor about raspberry pi, which was demo'd with domoticz in the subsequent video. Niels de Klerk It didn't seem like there was a remote control in this set up, is that right? So you tie in NEEO as the remote?
I'm using homeassistant and working on replacing my RF fan remote.
First step is to figure out what signal is being sent so using my old HA Pi (now using an Ubuntu machine): http://stevenhickson.blogspot.sg/2015/02/control-anything-electrical-with.html
Then using a mixture of a z-wave microcontroller in the wall for on/off, and then the SONOFF RF bridge (with custom firmware), i can create a few scripts in the homeassistant instance. script "turn on fan medium", that will send an http request to the device, which is translated to 433. script may want to turn on fan first, then sent http for medium.
Finally i set up using this https://github.com/jakeblatchford/neeo-homeassistant
(which recently had scripts added) - you can add home assistant scripts to NEEO.
personally i'll use NEEO to turn on and off the fan, and alexa to control speed (foraging for a remote at night vs asking alexa to "turn the fan to medium")
needless to say i'm working on this over the next week or so

Could you help me to understand what i need to do to get my NEEO system to operate my 433mhz projector screen?
I have now invested a bit to upgrade some things to make my NEEO work with all my stuff. The projector screen is the last missing piece.
i get confused when people are saying it’s possible but NEEO says no?!
