Vizio SB3831-DO

I have a Vizio SB3831-DO soundbar and found that if I add a "vol up" to my watch directv recipe it will wake the soundbar.

  •  Did you add the Vizio SB3831-DO soundbar to your NEEO too? Is that "vol up" sent to the soundbar or from which device did you choose that command?

    • Yes Patrick i did add the Visio to Neeo. Then added use soundbar volume and soundbar vol up to recipe.

It works great. But Neeo gives me 2 stupid device toggels before i can move on. How can I force dissable stupid device toggles?

      thanks

  • Patrick Andy please help. Nero thinks my Vizio SB3831-DO is stupid. Thats fine i dont care. But what i do care about is getting my wife in favor of Neeo. And as of now she want us to send it back. Because Neeo will not finish a recipe without the stupid devise toggle page. She says "its not ready, doesn't work, send it back, buy it again in 3 years, it costs far to much to put up with this BS."

I need Neeo to stop asking about the soundbar and finish the recipes.

Neeo can not be the remote for just me. It needs to be the remote for the family.

    What can be done?

We can try to smarten up your device. Is there any command that does turn on the soundbar besides POWER TOGGLE? E.g. an input command?

    • Andy Yes. Vol up wakes it up. Also it sleeps after a short time with no audio input signal. So off not really important to me

Thank you very much for helping us.

      Great, thanks!

So we can smarten up your device. All I need to know now is how does the device need to power on and accept a power toggle command to turn it off. Please measure this and let me know. Thanks!

  • Andy FYI I do have soundbar vol up in my recipe. And it wakes sounbar just fine. Its the stupid devise pages thats causing the trouble. I get them for both on and off. I need to get rid of them for good.

Karl Smith My old Harmony 650 received the same kiss awhile back. RIP. That is why I am refusing to let her use Neeo until the CEC implementation is complete. I currently use cec in a round about way, but don't want to go down that rabbit hole yet 😄

Karl Smith I assume it is easier to fix NEEO and not the wife 😉

Could you ask here a bit more why she hates it? Is that only related to stupid device screens?

It looks like we can "unstupify" your Sound Bar,  Andy will let you know once that ios ready. Do you have any other stupid devices?

Karl Smith He needs to know how long your device has from when you sent the "vol up" until it will accept the "power toggle" command to turn it off again.

    • Patrick  never tried that. Once its on its on untill we are done watching tv. I can test tonight.

    • Patrick yes. Stupid screens. And poor page swiping. 2 or 3 tries to change page. Apple is gold standard in touch screen. Neeo feels like old Garmin GPS.

I'll ask her later and post her answer.

When did you try? Maybe the update was not ready yet. Can you try again? You should be on version 5. Also, re-adding the device could help.

    • Andy So the soundbar is no longer stupefied. Thats a huge win. Thanks.

But....small but, power off does not work. I dont care about this at all as it turns off on its own after a short time. Just thought you should know.

Thanks again for all your help.

      Glad to hear!

We are sending a power on before we send a power off (which is actually power toggle) to make sure the device is on and is always powered off. This takes about 4 seconds. Maybe you didn't wait long enough?

      Like
    • Andy i waited much longer than 4 secs.

It works fine for my house now. It times off with no signal. So im not worried about off command. And no stupid screen. 👍🏼
