Are sales and interest high enough to support continued development

Hey guys, I am just trying to get a sense of the current product and the long term outlook. Do you feel there is currently sufficient buy in and consumer interest to support continued long term development of this product? Or, will this end up being another abandoned kickstarter product; leaving customers to support and develop for themselves?

Thoughts?

  • William LaHay  I will try to give you a good view into that. We are extremely thankful that we are where we are. As described in my earlier post: This could have gone either way. We reached so many of the milstones every startup is hoping for.

You also asked how sales are going. Whilst I cannot share an exact number I can tell you that we are doubling and partially tripling the line at our factory. Also we just initiated double shift. 20 hours a day NEEOs are being manufactured. How should I diplomatically put that... Let me try: We are very happy with sales as they are going much higher that we expected to. This is of course always linked to hard work from everyone and - very importantly - the community here is contributing much to that. Such a healthy community and such a rock-star-beta-team is not usual. Even some very large companies I speak with are deeply impressed.

The team is super committed to bring everyone an amazing experience. We are sharing that information all publicly including many request for missing devices etc. This of course could give one the impression that there are many issues and - like with every tech product - there are bugs and missing features. The most importnat part there though is how it's being handled. Patrick  spoke about it here.

I'm very confident that in the next weeks and month NEEO will develop fast. You have to understand that - for quite a while - we had to prioritize developments for a strong fundament, such as stability, production tests, cloud infrastructure etc. Now we are in a position where the cool stuff, the user facing stuff will get big attention. You can look forward to the upcoming firmware releases.

If you ask how it goes in general: Creating something special needs deep commitment form an exceptional team. And that's what I'm experiencing every day to an extend that makes me proud and - looking to what's coming up! - I'm simply thrilled to be part of it.

This is just the beginning! You can be proud being part of it.

  • Since the remote product line is Neeo's ONLY product, I don't think there's any doubt about "sufficient buy in" on the company's part. The question is more whether enough customers will buy in to provide sufficient funding so the development and support can continue over the long term.

Let me quickly explain: This user has created close to ten accounts on Planet NEEO, but I will not say his name here in public. You may always be critical, that is what Planet NEEO is here for too, we want to hear your opinions. What we do not accept is personal insults on any users or employees, we do also not accept it if you come up yourself with simply wrong information and share this as if it would have been communicated by us officially.

This user has crossed all these limits.

frustated neeo investor I understand your challenges and I was experiencing a bit of it myself when I received my Neeo and the brain unit was dead on arrival. However just like any great product, I firmly believe the customer/user Who support the product's vision over the long haul is how we can help add value to the product success and experience collectively. Apple first few computers released by Steve Job was not their best product but it was a welcome and much needed product for the desktop publishing market. Neeo has a great vision and is brave enough to change the universal remote game. That alone is a huge task in itself. I will continue to support Neeo and share my honest frustration and suggestion in hopes they will have these data and feedback to help improve their product and customer service. Please note, I am not affiliated with Neeo in any way. Just a fan and supporter of their vision and product.

Steven Lam Thanks a lot for the feedback. We like the way you see this and we are glad to have you here on Planet NEEO. We are giving our very best to quickly improve.

I have written above why the user's posts have been removed, there are certain limits here on Planet NEEO, more one these few limits may be found here . I do never remove critical or pessimistic posts, but if a user keeps crossing these limits, I will become active in a way that I let the users know that this is not OK. If the users then continues to cross the limits, yes, a user can actually get banned. Now that may sound like that is a huge problem, but we have only one single troll so far.

Steven Lam I'm curious, are you currently using your Neeo? I'm not, because I didn't want to take a step backwards from my current remote, and it's incredibly difficult to be optimistic (or anything other than upset/frustrated/sad). I'm still trying to be hopeful that this won't be an expensive lesson in caveat emptor.

    • Darren Greenberg Yes I am currently using my Neeo. This is not perfect yet, but I am hoping because of the prompt customer service responsiveness to my query and issues. I totally understand your concern on being an "expensive lesson". Good luck on your decision.

Darren Greenberg Can you post your issues here on Planet NEEO (new threads)? I am sure we can help with them.

    • Darren Greenberg Thanks for having shared that concern. I quickly looked at your posts and see you are mainly referring to Amazon Fire TV. I posted in several places that I also belong to the users that looks forward to seeing this implemented. It's not far away at all. As posted by Patrick  -If you have any other issues please create a thread or post in a fitting existing thread so we can help you. Thanks

Raphael I appreciate that, and look forward to not having any other issues once the Fire is supported :)
