How to delete a recipe?

In the app I have recipes of devices that I already deleted, but somehow they still appear in the recipes menu.

How can I delete those inactive recipes?

Thanks.

  • I'm using the Android app and have had no issues deleting recipes. I'm sure you did, but did you respond when the app sought confirmation before actual deletion? If you are using iOS you may want to list what iOS version you have installed.

Patrick Keegan iOS 11.0.1, there´s no button to delete. No swipe left or right either.

In the Android version shows a button to delete?

      Thanks.

    • Hugo Martínez When I touch a manually created recipe a pop-up asks me if I want to Rename or Edit or Delete the recipe. Again this is in the Android app.

I just noticed that in recipes that were created automatically when a device was added, I don't get the pop-up as before but asks if "When device is Launched or Powered Off".

I would think you would have to delete the associated device and that would delete the automatically generated recipe. If the device was deleted and its auto generated recipe wasn't then I would suspect an error with the iOS app.

I have added and deleted numerous devices and recipes in Android and haven't run across this issue.

Patrick Keegan Thanks for the info, as you said I also think this is the scenario of an error in the iOS app. Thanks a lot.

Hugo Martínez Could you also share a screenshot of your device list? That would help me a lot to explain the issue to our developers.

Patrick like I said these are recipes that reappeared after I unplugged the brain from the power, and are from devices that I have already deleted and added again because in that moment my set top box was not supported.

So the recipes I want to delete are the ones that are not active. But the iOS app doesn´t have a button to do it (I clicked and swipe on the recipe). Thanks.

1.- These shows the visible recipes/devices

2.- My actual devices with the actual names (the app "hide" the TV and the Home Theatre in order to work properly)

3.- The recipes I talk about are "TV" & "Sony TV", These reappeared.

Hugo Martínez Thanks a lot for putting this information together, that helps a whole lot. Do I understand correctly that everything is working but you can just not remove these recipes?

If that is the case, please don't reset your NEEO Brain, I think that could be a really interesting case for our developers. But this analysis will take a while.

    • Hugo Martínez Thanks for the report. Can you remember what exactly you did during the setup? like renaming some device?

And you wrote: "I have already deleted and added again because in that moment my set top box was not supported." -> so you deleted some devices and the re-added them? do you remember which ones?

Michael Vogt I deleted ( and renamed) all my devices in the moment my set top box was supported in order to add favorite channels properly. And in that moment all was fine. The problem (duplicated devices) begins after the brain of the NEEO was unplugged from the power. Thanks.

    • Hugo Martínez Thanks for the feedback, the problem will be fixed in the next release. to fix your issue you can delete the TV and the Apple TV device, then the two additional recipes will be removed.

  • I am having nearly the same issue.  I’m not prompted with the ability to delete an existing recipe within the iOS app.  When I click on one of the recipes i’d like to delete I only have the following options.

I stand corrected.  The recipes can be deleted.  I was attempting to delete a device from the recipe menu.  My apologies.

  • I think I got the same issue, it was a while ago, but I think I did It as follows:

    1) Add a device 123

    2) Recipe is created automatically

    3) Add the same device 123 again *

    4) Recipe is created automatically

    5) get advice from Raph to not use dupe devices; to use a dummy device instead

    6) delete one of the instances of device 123

    7) realize that both of the automatically created recipes still exist, and there is no way to delete the useless one... all you can do is delete all steps in it and hide it so it doesn't display.

    Hope that helps.

    * By the way, there are several good reasons to allow duplicate devices to be installed (rather than dummy devices).  I hope that NEEO is worked to accomplish that without stacking up "active device".  Maybe as "device 123-A" and "device 123-B" and "device 123-C" -- ie with distinguishing non-duplicate names assigned to them automatically.

Bill Kaczmarek Thanks a lot for these exact steps. Our test engineers will be looking into this.

Patrick When will there be a fix? Deleting Recipes is a must have! The iOS app does not have the capability to delete auto created recipes. In my case the Brain apparently created a duplicate of an auto-created recipe and I cannot delete it, only hide it!

Patrick Having the same issue here as well. I cannot delete a recipe after I renamed a device and it automatically created a recipe named after this renamed device.

  • Patrick Any updates on this issue?!

To be honest, it's unbelievable that such a basic function is still missing :-(

  • After 3 months using my NEEO (sporadically I have to admit), here's what I found out on my own with recipes:

    - When adding a new device, a specific recipe is created. Depending on the device's category (set top box, TV, amp, DVD player...), NEEO creates a "simple" or "complex" recipe (this is how I call them). The simple one only lets you control the device, while the complex one will use various other devices on your system to work. For instance, adding a TV will only result in a "simple" recipe, adding a set top box or a DVD player will end up in creating a complex one (with TV and amp if you have one).

    - After all your devices are added in NEEO and all the simple or complex recipes are created, you can create "custom" recipes but you will have limited options there (see the note below). Only these custom recipes can be deleted from the "recipes" screen.

Note : the automatically created complex recipes are the only ones letting you chose which device to use to adjust the volume, which one to change the channel... You will not have these options with custom created recipes. The so called "Use "X" Volume" and "Show "X" Controls" are missing from the custom recipes.

To delete a custom recipe : delete it from the "recipes" screen or delete the device.

To delete a simple or complex recipe : delete the main device behind it.

Warning : if you renamed your device and delete it, the recipe may not be deleted and you will find yourself with an unusable recipe stuck in the "recipes" screen. Of course you can disable it so it doesn't show on your remote but it'll stay in your settings.

    Hope this helps.

      Niels de Klerk

Maybe there was but it seems the last firmware update fixed the issue. I have been creating recipes, renaming devices, deleting recipes and devices...and I haven't encoutered the problem recently.
