HDMI Switch not supported?

Can't find an entry for my HDMI switch: "BYTECC HMSW401CK 4K2K Fast Switch with Audio".  The only 4x1 switch I find listed is a Monoprice switch, but it doesn't appear to be compatible.

Any ideas?

What HDMI 4x1 or 8x1 switches are supported?  I may want to upgrade anyway since I'm out of inputs already.

  • We can add that device, our device driver team will let you know once that has been added to our database.

We already support many HDMI switches, maybe  Andy can recommend some, or other users here on Planet NEEO. You can also check out what you can get locally and then ask here before buying it if we support it. Generally, we can also add these very quickly if they allow control over IR.

We are happy to let you know that we created a driver for your BYTECC HMSW401CK . In case you have any issue controlling this device let me know.

  • Hi Andy

I actually just got around to testing out this new device entry, and I can report that none of the input commands actually switch the device.

In addition, the device is not a 'stupid' device.  While it does have a physical switch for power on the front, there is also an IR power control that turns off the switch.  The power light stays on, but all the input lights turn off.  I can't speak for the parasitic power usage of the switch when 'off' via the IR remote, but I don't think that should be your concern.  The fact is it has a power command and the 'stupid' screen should go away (and die a horrible death, but that's an opinion I'll continue on a different thread). :-)

      Hi again,

The device is marked as "Always on" from now on. Additionally, the inputs should be fixed. The new data appears around 1AM CET. Please update your device. Thanks!

    • Andy Hey, I had my first opportunity to switch to one of these inputs last night and I can report that none of the input changes commands seem to work.

I thought it might be IR placement, so I tried it again with the remote blaster right in front of the hdmi switch, and nothing is happening.

Please test the commands in the following Live IR Test:

      1. Navigate to the Settings Menu in your NEEO app.
      2. Navigate to NEEO Brain.
      3. Click on "Device Commands Support".
      4. Enter into the text field the following code: c7hDE6iWiB
      5. Test the commands.

      Thanks!

  • Thanks! The input change commands all seem to work, albeit input  4 was a little finicky for some reason. Maybe it was just my device placement.

The power command is not doing anything, however. My expectation is that it would turn off all inputs, and no selection light would be on. This is the behavior of that button with the manufacturers remote. However, I treat this device as always on, and I don't know that turning it off has any effect on power usage. Most likely, it would just make it take longer to start up, so I'm fine with power commands not being a part of my recipes!

Hm... No it gets strange, I wanted to test if the issue actually is related to the commands. Actually, the exact same commands already included in the driver where included in the test. The input commands should already work. Can you send me a screenshot of the recipe steps? Thanks!

  • Sure, here is a recipe that uses that device.

We determined that your issue may be related to a software bug. It looks like we have already an idea what is going on and may be able to fix this until the next firmware release. In the meantime this can be solved for you with deleting and re-adding the device. But we know, it's a bit a struggle to do that and having to add all the TV logos and shortcuts again. Before you do this, try the following:

      • Disconnect the power cable from your Brain, wait 10 seconds and plugged it back in.
      • Reboot your remote with holding down the power button until the screen goes black, wait 10 seconds, turn it on again.

Does this fix your issue? If not, try the following:

      • Add the affected device a second time and check if the issue also appears within the new device. Deleting and re-adding your original device will not fix it.

Additionally, we need some more detailed information:

      • Software version (Remote):
      • Software version (Brain):
      • Date/time it happened:
      • Brain name:
      • Email Address (used for NEEO account):

Many thanks! This helps us really a lot!

As there was not further activity, we'll close this post. Of course, if the issue still persists, don't hesitate to contact us again. Thanks!
