Missing Commands in Custom Recipes

Was trying to create a simple custom recipe (turn on receiver and set to specific input for streaming from airport express or to play turntable for instance). But I noticed that when I first set up the "wiring" for my system, I had inputs listed that are not available for a customized recipe. Is this by design or a bug?

  • That is not by design and they should be available. I need to check that with our device driver team, i'll let you know as soon as I have more information.

  • Could you add a screenshot? Sometimes this might help to see if your looking in the right place etc. you should be able to change input to any of the inputs. Could you also specify the device driver you are using?

    Thanks for your feedback!

What you saw at the initial setup are the so-called GENERIC INPUTS. These are "rescue" input commands. If everything fails and none of the normal input commands work, you may be lucky with the generic inputs. They are always labeled INPUT 1, 2, 3 etc.

But if you have to use such a command, there is already something wrong. Please let me know your model and manufacturer. Also, which input command did not work and which generic input command did you use for instead?

    Thanks!

  • Using Denon AVR-3312. The AVR remote includes Game 1, Game 2, CD, and DVR (as well as phono) direct inputs missing from the menu in NEEO. Unfortunately, I'm using 3 of those 4 with current inputs and had to cycle through the generic inputs to find them.

Meanwhile, the NEEO input list includes internet radio, Net, as well as NET USB which I think all end up at the same place with the receiver  definitely the first two do. Net/USB may go to a menu one level up from the internet radio inputs

Couple other minor issues. I added "receiver" as a recipe and it brings up all the various inputs on the screen afterward. When viewing on the remote, two of the inputs are only partially displayed along the bottom. So they aren't visible and then the bottom of the screen isn't responsive to swiping.

Lastly, at times it seems the receiver becomes unresponsive, via the receiver input menu in the separate receiver recipe, to changes in input. If I select a new recipe altogether (apple TV or TiVo), then the receiver responds and changes as needed. So it seems the app/remote stops sending out the commands from that recipe for some reason. Maybe I'm just trying to cycle through them too quickly.

      Thanks for the feedback!

The missing inputs are added! The new data should appear around 7PM CET. Please re-add your AVR. Thanks!

  • I too am having this issue. I have a Denon AVR-S900W that does not show up in the device list. Adding a AVR-S900-R results in a list of inputs that don’t exist and/or have several missing. Very similar to the original poster.

So so far I’m finding this to be frustrating. And yes, I updated firmware before starting.

On a side note, the command layout for Directv is really bad. For example, the scroll by page and scroll one channel are on different screens, multiple screens apart! Marks channel surfing really iritating.

Matt Lippmann I will have the device driver team check on that device. They will let you know once this is ready.

As for the direct TV, can't you do these controls with the hard buttons? Could you add these to your favorites to have them on a single screen?

    • Patrick any update on the Denon commands?

Any comment on the Brain not being detected by the app on iPhone. It happens EVERY time I leave the house and return. App is not able to find the Brain.

    • Matt Lippmann Hi, the AVR-S900W has been added. You can add the new device. Can you let us know if that works out for you?

    • Emily The device has been added and the commands appear to be correct. However, updating the recipes has somehow messed up the audio output such that when watching TV via directv there is not longer audio. Other media sources (AppleTV and Radio) appear to work fine; audio outputs correctly. Doesn't seem that the NEEO should affect this.

As a side note, going through this exercise revealed that there is NO WAY to delete a recipe that was established during the initial set up on iOS app. This is pretty annoying and a clear problem with the iOS NEEO app..

Matt Lippmann Could you maybe share a screenshot of a recipe that works correctly and one that does not? Then we might be able to spot the difference.

I could imagine that this is somehow related to NEEO when we select the wrong input on the AVR or when we don't turn it on.

Could you go to the settings in the NEEO App, and then go to "Devices", then tap on the DirectTV device and choose "Reset Wiring...". Then go back to your home screen in the App and then start the DirectTV recipe, you should then be taken through the wiring process again. This way you should be able to choose the right input during that process.

  • Thank you for the fast response Patrick.

I’ll try your suggestion re: favorites. It’s mainly an issue when using the app on the phone.

Another suggestion is to add an “exit” button for DirecTV. Frequently there is a need to back out from menus that require an exit button.

On another note, I had a lot of issues this morning with the Brain disconnecting from my WiFi network and not reconnecting. Also the remote wasn’t connecting. I eventually got it to work.

And now that I have returned home, the app on the phone can't find the Brain. This is quite annoying.

Matt Lippmann I saw your other post  concerning the WiFi disconnect issues, let's continue that there.

  • I'm missing some inputs on my Sony STR DN1050. What I'm looking for is the SAT/CATV input. The TV/SAT is available, but that is not the same input. Is it going to be an option to teach IR commands?  Please let me know if you can help. Thanks!

We have just added this input. The new data appears around 1 PM CET. Please update your device. Thanks!
