Recipe for NES Classic (device not powered on by NEEO)

Can someone please explain to me if the following is possible:

I want a recipe for my NES Classic that will power on my TV and AV Receiver,  set them to the right inputs, and power them off using the power off button.

The problem is that I can't seem to set a launch/power off combo unless I tie it to a device, and the NES classic is not an option. I don't want to tie it to my AV Receiver,  and even if I could, there appears to be a bug that will not let me rename my AV Receiver to something useful (NEEO says "illegal characters" when I try to rename, no matter what I type).

Best way to do this?

Not to mention my biggest gripe still is that there is no mode to just control a single device,  outside of the recipe, like Harmony has.

Thanks.

  • The NES classic (and other game consoles) can be added to NEEO. These drivers themselves don’t do much but are there so you can build a proper recipe.

Niels de Klerk Thanks, Niels. It appears to be an issue with my device list that I didn't notice yesterday (see image). Currently can't search for a number of devices. Once I get that fixed, I should be good to go. I'll try resetting everything and hopefully should be back in business.

  • Looks like the brain can’t access the internet. Maybe a reboot of your router or the brain will fix it. If not then pull in one of the NEEO team members.

Niels de Klerk Yep, I rebooted the brain and the newest firmware update finally showed up. Everything worked after that. Thanks for the response.

  • Is there a way to update the device list? Rebooted the brain 3 times, have software 0.50.6 on it, but it does not find any Nintendo Console to add...

    • Lars Joschko seems like the Nintendo consoles are gone. I couldn’t find them either. Andy  is this known known?

Best is is to add a dummy game console. It’s the same driver as the Nintendo drivers.

Yes, the Nintendo consoles are gone. First of all, these where dummy devices only, anyway. The had no function at all besides being able to define it inside the wiring setup.
The reason why they are gone is, that we have created dummy devices, one for every category, a while ago. They server the exact same function as the more specific dummy devices. A DUMMY GAMECONSOLE device acts the same as e.g. the Nintendo64 device acted. Just the name is different. But you can rename the device after adding it and it is possible to add as many dummy device of the same category as you like.
Because of this, we decided to remove all other dummy devices. People could find these dummy devices on "Works with NEEO" and inside the app and might actually think that we can control them.
We hope everybody is okay with this. Nothing is lost, except the specific names. Nothing else has changed with the dummy device process. Thanks for your understanding!
