Chromecast Ultra Not Found by Neeo Brain

I've been trying to setup my Chromecast Ultra and it constantly says it can't be found. I have rebooted the brain and everything. I'm using HDMI-CEC to control all my devices that are all connected to my Denon AVR-X8500H. All other devices work fine but I can't get the Chromecast setup. The Chromecast works otherwise. My iPhone, Neeo Brain, and Chromecast Ultra are all on the same network.

Your NEEO Brain is allready connected to the AVR via a HDMI-CeC capable cable? If so, can you check if the Device can be found, when it is directly plugged into the NEEO Brain? just for Troubleshooting reasons.

Also it would be helpfull if you can provide your neeo hostname so a neeo team member can check the logfiles from your search if there is something uncommen.

    • Markus Mahr I didn't know about the hostname thing. My hostname is NEEO-d9c814ac. I'll trying pluging in directly to the Neeo brain shortly. It sounds weird that all other devices will work fine with CEC but the Chromecast wouldn't it is technology and strange things happen.

    • Markus Mahr I tried plugging directly into the brain and got the same result so it is not the cable.

Kesna Lawrence Thank you for posting this. Do you have a PS4 or Nvidia Shield or an Amazon Fire Stick? If so, can you check to see if these devices are discovered via CEC with NEEO?

Be sure to have an HDMI 1.3 cable or higher connected to the Brain to your Tv too. I also suggest using a different HDMI cable if you're still unable to discover devices.

      Thanks!

    • Jeff I have a Xbox One X and a Apple TV 4K and they both work with the brain connected via HDMI. I aslo connected the Chromecast directly to the brain and it still didn't discover it.

Kesna Lawrence Those devices are controlled via IR and not CEC. Have you tried a different HDMI cable? Does your Tv have CEC enabled or disabled?

      Thanks!

    • Jeff is this still the case when the IR blaster is not connected and their is not line of sight?  Please note as suggested I connected Chromecast directly to the brain totaled out the cable and the AVR. Any other suggestions?

    • Kesna Lawrence Don't know how NEEO currently handles the Device Search via HDMI-CeC but it can be, that the device is not recognized because it uses an other CeC Address then NEEO trys to search for. Can you provide the exact model number of your device (or even better a picture showing the Device Lable)?

If so, the device needs to be added by neeo first before it can be discovered, due to the fact, that you already plugged it in directly i would say, that is the case here.

To be sure i will also pull in Ingrid Andy and Fäbu maybe someone can check with the device Database if the NEEO searches for only some "known" addresses in that case

Kesna Lawrence The reason I asked if you have any other CEC devices like PS4, Amazon FireStick or Nvidia Shield is to rule out a potentially bad CEC bus on the NEEO Brain. This is a rare occurrence, but something I like to rule out during the troubleshooting process. Sometimes Chromecast can be a bit of a headache. We have a new firmware release in the next few weeks that actually includes fixes on how we handle the Google Chromecast. If you have no other CEC devices I suggest we wait to see if this new firmware helps address what you're experiencing.

  • Hi, I'm also unable to setup my Chromecast ultra.

The most recent firmware is installed (automatically, but I also checked prior to my message).

    What is the current status?
