Fibaro Wall Plug

Has anyone managed to include and actually use a Fibaro Wall Plug, yet?

If have a Gen5 one and an earlier one but all I get when including (when it works at all) is an unknown device which seems to expose a toggle but that merily does nothing at all when triggered. Any ideas?

  • Thomas Hebendanz hello, I will have a look at this with the Device Driver Team, see if we find a solution to this, we will keep you updated. Thank you for your feedback.

  • Thomas Hebendanz There was a bit of a misunderstanding here since this is a z-wave this device this cannot be handled by the device driver team at the moment.

I have such a wall plug at home, but I have to check which generation it is. Once I am home tonight I will check. In the meantime, I will have our developers take a look at the issue. Basically, that device should be supported.

  • Unfortunately, the device I have at home is quite a bit older. The one I have is working just fine though.

Are both plugs you tried adding behaving in the same way? Bot recognized as "unknown" and exposing a toggle which does not work?

Are you running our latest firmware (0.46.5)?

    Like
    • Patrick Yep. Firmware is 0.46.5. I could not include the older version. Not sure why. The Gen5 plug gets included but as unknown device. When trying to use it in a receipe it would show a "Basic Toggle" which does not seem to do anything when tested and a nameless slider is shown.

Torsten Urbas After resetting zwave completely it is now recognized properly as Fibaro 5th Gen Wall Plug. I am able to successfully read wattage etc. through NEEO. Also there's a single on/off toggle created for this device which is also working fine.

Thomas Hebendanz Thats exactly where i did the reset. First i removed ("General device eclusion") all of my zwave devices. After that i had to trigger the reset twice, it also failed for me on the first try.

    • Torsten Patrick Hello again. So well. No matter how often I try to do the z-wave controller reset it will always tell me that it could not reset the z-wave controller. I am also not able to delete any z-wave devices. It will just say device could not be deleted.

I am honestly running out of ideas for what else you could try. We do have a couple of changes in the next release fo z-wave which could be related, but I can not guarantee that it will solve these issues, I will, therefore, put our test engineers on that case.

    • Patrick Hey hey. So I installed the new firmware today and gave another try at the zwave stuff. Long story short. Does not work any better or at all.

What I tried is reset the controller. That worked (at least it said done instead of cannot reset). After that the zwave device still been listed in the app though. I removed those by telling it the devices are broken and used the force delete option. Then I tried to include my Gen5 plug I use for testing again. Same result. It got added as unknown device. So I removed that again. Then I thought I start over and reset the controller again just to be sure I am back at zero.

However, after I reset the controller all my attempts of including that plug showed up again. as device Unknown, Unknown (1)... aaaand so on.

Did you find a solution? I am having the exact same issues. Even if I reset zWave I still have a bunch of unknown devices.
I ahve now tried with Fibaro wall plugs, Fibaro motion controller and two TKB Wall plugs. Same thing for all devices.

      Like
    • Pontus Lernhag Nope. Sorry. Am waiting for a fix too. I have not tested the pre Gen5 plug again yet. I still could not get rid of the "unknown" devices which I deleted. The Gen5 plug however is still not recognized.

  • Well that cant be the real solution. In the case the last Zwave device is labled as unknown you cant restart your whole work again. I also had to restart the brain several times to exclude and reset the Z wave controller.

I think, I will focus on the IR part and skip ZWave for now.

    Like
  • Christian Same issue now that i removed my wall plug and motion sensor. Can't reset the z-wave network no matter how often i try - NEEO being this network's primary controller by the way.

I agree with you that z-wave is currently not worth bothering with. Its clearly visible that (currently) IR is where NEEO excels - which is not a bad thing. I am sure things will improve over the next few month's and i will try my luck again early next year.

  • Same here, FGWPF-102 ZW5 (Gen 5) running Brain 0.47.9-28fa9fa and added a brand new, unused Fibaro Wall Plug Gen 5 and it turns up as "Unknown". The earlier (non-Gen 5) Fibaro Wall Plug works as expected. Hope this topic gets updated with the progress.

  • You can add me as well. Have tried now for several days and no luck. 75% of the times nothing is included when I try to. A few times it gets added but then as an unknown and it does nothing when trying to toggle power.
I have tried with both Gen 5 and older ones as well.

Also having issues with other zwave devices.
One of them is TKB TZ68G which I have not managed to add att all.

Will continue trying more devices that I have but really getting tired of this.
Patrick Is there any official guide for Neeo when it comes to Z-wave?
Any recommendation on how close one should have the device when trying to include?

    Like
  • The NEEO Brain is using full power inclusion, so the device should not have to be very close.

I have ordered the Gen5 Plug, I don't have access to that one. I do have many of the older ones at home and I was able to include this without issues.

Since this does not seem to be reproducible reliably and it works for some, for some sometimes and for others not at all, I will have our test engineers further analyze this case. We need to get that reproduced here in the office, then we can start fixing that.

      Great to hear!

Please also be aware that this problem might not be device specific, it could be something more general with Z-wave and some NEEOs.
I have not managed to add any of my z-wave devices and started another thread that might or might not be related to this one.

I am not able to add any plug, not even with the latest firmware.

So my last try today was resetting the controller. Which made the brain suddenly show up plenty unknown z-wave devices from my last attempts. I removed them one by one declaring them broken to the brain and started over trying.

The android app says that the inclusion is in progress but it will end me up on the inclusion failed message.

Either my neeo is not running on the correct z-wave frequency or the controller is faulty.

Including these firbaro plugs became tiring and frustrating.

On top of all that the latest firmware update causes connectivity losses where sometimes the brain is unreachable by the app and the remote. However, waiting solves the issue. Not sure how long those phases of inconnectivty are though.

Have you tried a factory reset on the Brain? At times, a Z-Wave controller reset doesn’t seem to be sufficient. Also, you may want to try a factory reset on the device.

I will try that one day (before warranty expires) but I have a lot of devices so its a pain to redo everything. My short term solution was to buy a Homey and give up z-wave on NEEO. Extremely sad as I hade really high hopes for Neeo to be the main controller. Now it is acting as a remote only.

      Like
  • Thomas Hebendanz Since you added the z-wave device to another controller you now have to exclude that device from that controller (factory reset the device) and try to add it to NEEO once more. During the inclusion process be sure to tap on include decide via the NEEO app and then put the device into inclusion mode.

Let me know if this works.

Also, you mentioned you’re now experiencing connectivity issues from the app and remote. Can you provide me with your NEEO Hostname and also, do you have your Brain hardwired via Ethernet to your router?

    Thanks!

Hi Jeff. I tried unthinkable lots of times to include the fibara wallplugs with brian #1 but it never worked. At best I got an unindetified zwave device.

I now exchanged it with my brain #2. Brain #2 included all my fibaro plugs 5gen and older on first try without any issues.

I also tried to reset brain #1 and include a wallplug right as first device after resetup but that didn't work either. Hence my assumption that my brain #1 might be faulty.

Both brains are running the same firmware version 0.50.

Both brains are on wifi and the router is instructed to assign them the same IP every time.

Brain #2 is currently offline. By hostname you mean this? NEEO-692a0a83

I see another hostname with that schema online. So I assume the other one is the working brain (#2).

Hi Jeff. So the suspected faulty brain (#1) is going to get replaced due to the weird zwave behaviour.

For the connectivity issues. I found that the working brain is experiencing them too. I did not notice such happen with the past firmwares. Maybe it is just me having bad timing to not notice them or it is something introduced with one of the latest updates. Cannot tell really.

But I still got the connectivity issues since the last firmware update (even with the working brain). The remote reports "Cannot communicate with Brain!" and also the webinterface of the brain is unreachable when this happens.

On a sidenote. I raised another issue because there seems to be an issue with HDMI and the ARC channel rendering TV watching basically impossible. You can find out about that particular issue here: https://planet.neeo.com/t/k955f6/arc-audio-interruptions-when-using-hdmi-on-brain

Both issues do not nessearily occur at the same time.

Thomas Hebendanz I hope that the Z-wave chip in that Brain is faulty. Remember that a Z-wave device cannot be added to two controllers. It needs to be reset in order to be added to a new controller. I am also aware that some z-wave devices take a bit longer to be included which is why they appear later in the NEEO app.

What was tricky for me is that the device was added seamlessly to another non-NEEO controller.

      Like
    • Jeff Uhm. Wait. There is a misunderstanding I think.

I have 2 NEEO brains. I successfully added all my z-wave devices to brain #2. Brain #1 is the faulty one. It would not add any z-wave device. The best result was an unknown devices being listed.

I am fully aware on how z-wave inclusion works and how to reset the z-wave devices to pair them with another controller. I tried with brain #1 countless times but it never worked. So I decided to test it with brain #2. That one accepted all z-wave devices willingly without any issues. Hence the conclusion that brain #1 is faulty.

      Hi Jeff,

so the replacement brain arrived and works smoothly as expected. My z-wave plugs connect to is without issues. Reckon that one brains z-wave module is nutters.

Also, I found that my sudden connectivity update might or might not be something specifically incombination with the netgear R6400 router am using. Restarting the router seems to make the brain connect again. But I already diaabled all the netgear special features for beamforming and all that. So maybe this gives you guys a hint on what is happening. I do not experience that connection issue with any of the other connected devices.
