Z-Wave bug?

I've added neeo as a secondary Z-Wave controller. Everything was looking good, but one device (aeotec Dual Nano) was recognized with some kind of bug (neeo couldn't read any of this device options), but another one exactly the same worked (neeo did show options like wattage, power on/off each power socket, etc).

I didn't know how to resolve it, so I tried to start again. Removed neeo from Z-Wave network (using the neeo Brain menu option), but even so all devices still were listed in my neeo devices.

Them I tried to reset neeo Brain Z-Wave controller. It did remove all devices, except the ones listed as "unavailable". That ones I couldn't remove in any way. Even when I manually removed them from the devices list, they return after a reboot. Not even redoing the Z-Wave controller reset from neeo Brain did work for this.

Now I can't even add the brain to my Z-Wave network anymore. Although it can be added back, the brain still show the option to add it back, instead of the option to remove (as it usually shows when it realize is part of a Z-Wave network). Finally, I've removed and reset it again, but still couldn't fix anything...

Can you guys remove all Z-Wave related configuration from my neeo Brain? I'm not really willing to reset the entire brain configuration, as I'm using it as my everyday controller for IR devices... I've tried to restore previous cloud backups, but the oldest one wasn't enough... 😓

Regards,

Diogo

  • Hi Diogo! Sorry for the late response here on our end. At this point, we suggest performing a data reset. Can you also provide me with your NEEO Hostname?  What Z-wave controller do you have and what z-wave devices?

    Thanks!

  • Sorry for asking it again, but it's not possible for you guys to delete all z-wave specific config from my NEEO Brain or provide me some option to do it? I've already used the option for z-wave complete destruction :-), but it looks flawed since some config was not removed..

I believe you already know, but reset everything just to try it again without any guarantee that it will work, how can I say... Looks bad? It took so long for me to setup it all the way I'd like, and reset it without any way to export my config... Or is there some way to revert to the old config, previous to the reset? That way would be simple to try! I know there's the cloud config, but as far as I know, there's no way to keep one specific backup there.

I've a second NEEO Black Cat Combo, that's useless right now (they don't work together...). I've already tried to add it to my Z-Wave Network, but it's even worse. Both Aeotec Dual Nano Switches shows just the toggle option. Although it was detected with the right name, neither one has any sensor available (watt sensor, heat alarm, power management alarm), nor options to control each socket (they are dual). I've added one Aeotec Nano Switch (one socket model) using this second NEEO Brain, and all sensors were detected. Looks random... :-/ I've even searched NEEO Planet for some way to directly config/edit z-wave settings in NEEO Brain (maybe some web server for advanced users?), but to no avail...

I'm using SmartThings hub v2. I've sent you the hostname of both NEEO Brains, the production :-) and the useless :-(.

PS: For useless (form the time being!) I mean it's really bad to have change the NEEO Brain in the mobile app to control each room. It takes really long. And reconnect the NEEO Remote to another NEEO Brain take even longer, and can't be done by all of my family (not something easy to be done, nor should be required for a remote controller...). For now I'm just using one for my Living Room that, besides the z-wave part, works flawless.

Thanks for helping, and sorry for my english!

    Regards,

    Diogo

Diogo Silva Thank you for posting this, I really appreciate it. I read your dm before looking into this post which is why I asked what issue you were experiencing :).

I suggest that you reset your NEEO Brain. This will delete all the data on it. You will have to set it up from scratch too. For your smart things hub, make sure that you exclude the NEEO Brain from that z-wave network. I have run into this issue before where you need to exclude the device and then re-add it.

      Best,

  • Hi Jeff, I've done exactly that, but using my second neeo unit, as I have explained above.

Unfortunately, it didn't work. Before adding it to my smartthings, I've done a complete reset in that second unit, but it's as I've explained... :-(

    What else can I do?

    Thanks for helping!

Diogo Silva Hi Diogo! If you open your NEEO app > tap on settings > tap on Z-wave actions > tap on reset z-wave controller. Wait about 3 min and then reboot your NEEO Brain. When the NEEO Brain is back online, try adding the devices again. Make sure you tap in the NEEO app "Include device" before putting the actual device into inclusion mode.

      Thanks!

    • Jeff hi, just for your information... I couldn't even open this option anymore. When I click on zwave actions it keeps loading, then stops as if I've never clicked on it...

All zwave devices previously detected doesn't work on any option/recept on neeo Everything is working fine within smartthings...

I just don't know what to do... I've even tried a few times to reset and start over, but it's just to taxing. I've two neeo brains, and usually I setup one (by copying manually every option, settings and recipes that I've done), and try to join my Z-Wave network. It worked for once (or twice), but then stop.

I've give up for now... Zwave on neeo, at least for now, is just to unreliable :-(

But I can use IR control on a daily basis, with rarely a glitch.
