Nvidia Shield 2017 CEC

Dear support, I have connected my Nvidia Shield into an HDMI port and CEC is working fine (I can control the Nvidia Shield with the Samsung TV remote) but when I add the Nvidia Shield device into the Neeo app, I have an error message that say the devide is not found. How can I use my Neeo remote with my Nvidia Shield 2017 ? thank you

PS: shield has been updated to the latest version

  • Hi, YC. Thank you for reaching out to us. Do you get the same results if you use a different HDMI CEC cable? Is your NEEO Brain connected via HDMI CEC directly to your Samsung TV or to an AVR?

Can you also provide me with your NEEO hostname, please? This can be found in the settings under the about section.

  • I have connected the Brain into a TV HDMI port and the Shield into my HDMI switch (where output is connected to another TV HDMI port). I retried on yesterday and the Shield has been detected by Neeo app but, if I watch another input (TV tuner or another input), the TV automatically switch to the TV HDMI port where the Neeo brain is connected. I have also noticed that the Shield control with the Neeo Remote is very slow. My Neeo hostname is NEEO-fca9a0f4

    • YC The case with the slow control is allready known and under investigation (as far as i know).

For the Issue with your TV can you redo the device smartener for your TV device? it can be, that the NEEO sends a switch signal to your tv input where itself is connected. ALso you should check the Recipe for the Shield if therein is the correct Input.

Markus Mahr  @ingrid I've very slow control also. Sometimes it takes around 1-3 seconds until it responds.

      Any update on this?

    • vistalba I will pull in Jeff from NEEO's side, as Ingrid seems no longer be available. HDMI-Cec can always causing issues, as it needs to be handled from each controller in each Hardware, so the longer the Chain is, the higher is the delay speed. As intermediate solution i would suggest to power reset the Brain, this should bring back some speed. Also you can check, if you can bring the NEEO Brain and the Shield closer together and avoid middle hardware that is not required (if this is possible in your setup)

vistalba  Hello :). Let me know if  Markus Mahr tips help. I also suggest deleting the device and re-adding it in NEEO. You can also try a different HDMI cable that is 1.3 or higher. I have had customers tell me this has helped too.

vistalba You should write an email to the support, Jeff doesn't work for the company anymore.

Fonzo I wrote already... but there is no answer at all -.- There is no development at all on this product since they sold it to Control4 and in this state the product is just unusable!

vistalba Because for me the solution with HDMI never worked properly, I use for the Nvidia Shield a Logitech Hub. You can control the Shield via Bluetooth, this works great and never had problems with the controller. So that the NEEO is not completely useless I have included in the NEEO an Nvidia Shield as an IR device. The IR commands do not work logically. But I use this only as a dummy device to have the appropriate commands available. I then send the commands from NEEO via forward action to IPSymconNEEO. From there, the NEEO commands are translated to commands for the Logitech Hub. So I do not need HDMI connection and works fluently ever since with control over the Logitech hub.
