    • Patrick Please note that there are two Samsung devices with two different model numbers (SAMSUNG SMT-C5320 CABLE BOX and SAMSUNG LN40B650T1F TV) These are not duplicates. There is no response to commands from the "dumb device" screen for either device.

  • Update: On a hunch, I added a Samsung cable box from your devices list (Samsung SMT-5230), which does NOT match my Samsung cable box model number, then I updated the recipe. The newly added device works and responds to commands but gets the "stupid device" screen. The interesting part is that the originally added device did not respond to any commands despite matching my Samsung cable box model number perfectly (Samsung SMT-5320). Since this solution partially works, I'll leave it as is and disregard the model number discrepancy until your team makes the necessary adjustments for full automation. I imagine you may want to update your database to correct this conflict (see screen shots).

  • Wow, thanks a lot for figuring that one out. We sure will fix that in our database, you just helped to prevent many other users from running into this issue. We'll let you know once the database has been updated.

Could you maybe go through the different commands, if you can find one that also powers the device on (i.e. switching inputs) we could "unstupify" that device.

  • Anthony Roper I quickly talked to the device driver about your issue. What seems strange to us is that you were not getting the stupid device screens with the first device you tested since that does neither have discrete power commands in our database, are you sure you are refering to the right devices?

Could you maybe check if any other commands are capable of turning the device on (i.e. switching to an input)? If you happen to find such a command we could come up with discrete commands for controlling power.

  • Hello Patrick.

To answer your question, I am positive I'm refering to the right device. So far, I'm able to perform several commands except for power on/off (requires manual operation), No button for DVR, no button for "last channel" (which toggles between current and previous channels), and no settings button.  Those are some of the most commonly used commands/buttons missing. The Samsung SMT-5230 behaves more like a generic device with very limited functionality. The SMT-5230, which is not my actual device's correct model number, is what I'm using since the device with the correct model number (Samsung SMT-5320) does NOT respond to ANY commands (I've tried all available commands with the SMT-5320; none of them turns on power).  Has your database been updated to reflect the correct model numbers for these devices? Resolving this issue would be the last step to achieve full automation with my Livingroom setup.  Please see prior post above regarding model number discrepancy.

      Anthony Roper

Last channel: This command is already included and is called PREVIOUS CHANNEL

Additionally we improved the driver by adding the following commands:

      MY RECORDINGS = DVR Menu
      MENU SETTINGS
      LIVE

Also, the correct commandset is now added to your actual device. We would recommend to delete the wrong one and your actual device. The new data will appear around 1PM CET.

      Thanks!

    • Andy Hi Andy and thank you for the upgrades. I followed your instructions and everything works great except for the power command (still get the "stupid device" screen). For now, I have to manually power the Samsung SMT-5320 on and off.   We're almost there...

  • Thank you for all that information, I will have our device driver team check through these devices. They will let you know about the results.

      Anthony Roper

      Glad to hear!

Yes, the manual power toggle will stay. There are no discrete commands available. Sorry!

    • Patrick As per Andy, the power toggle will stay for this device. Have you made any progress with respect to finding alternate workarounds for the manual power issue? My cable service privider (Optimum) does not offer any other cable box models, so I’m stuck with the SAMSUNG SMT-5320.

Anthony Roper We have solutions in mind, but these are not available yet. One example would be making use of HDMI CEC 😉

    • Anthony Roper We will certainly work on such a solution shortly. There are not that many devices affected but for those who are the experience is not great. We will keep you posted. Thanks

    • Raphael Thanks again. I thoroughly enjoy the process of feedback exchange, particularly with NEEO. Never being convinced perfection has been achieved is the key to making real progress.
