Amazon fire tv

I seem to have issues getting it to control my fire tv? Ok assuming it's because it's the bluetooth connection needed?  Once I added it as a device the screen says I can now user remote? Am I not able to control it through the neeo?

  • Kelvin Yip You're correct. At the moment you need to use ur FireTV Remote to control your FireTV. As see can see over here: https://planet.neeo.com/r/y7fz83

the Feature is highly voted by other Users, so this feature will come!

Markus Mahr any luck? My remotes are useless indeed until this fundamental attribute is corrected : (

    • Markus Mahr When will the Fire TV be supported?

    • Christopher Jacobsen W K

I don't work for NEEO, I'm not able to say, when it will be available. That is the desicion of the company providing the product.

Markus Mahr my apologies, I’m new here

    • W K No Problem. If you see a Nickname with the addition @NEEO these are the guys working for the Company. All Users with the Addition TOP Contributor *** are guys who have helped NEEO in the past and also have some expierience with the device itself. Esle we are all normal guys spread around the Globe!

      Welcome to Planet NEEO

  • Is this still the case? I'm baffled as to how my much-older Logitech Harmony is able to control my Fire TV, but the Neeo isn't. Isn't the whole point of having an all-in-one remote not having to use multiple remotes?

    • Darren Greenberg I completely agree. So far I've been very disappointed with the Neeo after all this time waiting for it. Can you send an update as to when bluetooth remotes will be supported?

W K Unfortunately you'll have to wait until we release the driver for this. As we have said, the Fire TV is very high on our priority list and it should be arriving as the very first device that can be controlled over Bluetooth.

Patrick I am also very disappointed that after waiting for 2 years...Amazon Fire TV does not work with Neeo. Neeo is a beautiful remote but my 5 years old Logitech Harmony is running circles around Neeo. Please update asap so we can all use 1 control...Neeo.

Steven Lam There are a ton of software updates coming. NEEO will evolve fast as the platform and the product is now built and we can focus on features. Basically the team had to focus on stability and many other "boring" but important things in the background and now many of the developers can focus on features. You want Amazon Fire TV support, I want it too. It's close. Stay tuned.

    • Raphael Thank you and looking forward to future updates and features :)

    • Patrick

Why did you choose bluetooth over IP? Will bluetooth allow direct launching of apps?

    • Blayne Hare Bluetooth is an open standard whereas with IP protocol the manufacturer can choose if they open or close the authentication protocol.  Reverse engineering a closed protocol is very difficult, also if the manufacturer decides to change something, the whole process of this has been for nothing.  I also think for a third party remote control bluetooth is easier and more stable to implement, especially if you deal with a manufacturer that closed the IP protocol.

  • Not sure if this counts as situational irony, but I split a two-pack with my brother-in-law, who is replacing an older harmony remote, that doesn't have bluetooth, so he has no problem making the "upgrade". So, run-on sentence, yes; irony, maybe; disappointment, definitely.

  • ridiculous! "You can now (put me away and) use your Fire TV Controller"

man ... waiting for years paying 300€ and now fire tv and philips hue lightscenes

    • Patrick FireTV will be coming in one of the next Firmware Updates. The Firmware is not yet in Version 1.XX it is in Version 0.XX means not all features are available now. The Features will come with further Improvments.

    Hi  Kelvin Yip

We are VERY close to releasing full Amazon Fire Tv support. As of right now you will have no control using NEEO. I'll see if we can have  Andy remove it until we launch it soon.

    Thanks!

We have the "dummy" device in there for wiring reasons. It will be replaced by the real driver as soon as it is ready. As Jeff said, we are very close.

    • Andy Jeff

I guess firetv support isn't as close as was claimed over a month ago.  In my opinion CLOSE means within 2 weeks.   Very disappointed at this point as my main media device is a firetv and I've yet to be able to really use my neeo due to this.   I've picked the thing up like twice since I've owned it.

Grant A Booher Its now closer than you think! :) We appreciate your continued patience!

  • Ya I agree. I actually put my neeo away a couple of months ago because of that same reason. It's in the cupboard until firetv it works with firetv. Brutal.

  • Same here. Not used it once, because device support is too bad. Fire TV doesn't work and Philips Hue support is a bad joke. Thought about waiting for an update, but now i'm thinking about selling it 😕

Dirk Barchmann  I just got in touch with a member of our dev team and we do have color scenes and changing colors for Phillips Hue in our backlog. No defined timeframe, but it's def something we are going to implement.

Fire Tv is coming! We're a small company and don't have the resources we need to get everything we have in store for you folks as fast as we all want them. Just know we are working our tails off to get everything going :).

Jeff Hi. Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated. I guess I can wait some more weeks or month for the software after waiting 2,5 years for the hardware 😉

  • Thank you guys for your hard work. I’m looking forward to the updates. Crossing my fingers Bluetooth gets enabled soon for FireTV and Shield TV.

  • how many times is 'close' used in this thread?!
its answer time - what is your expected month delivery of this?

    • Jamie Burgess I agree. I post about this 11 days ago and was told the update was "closer than I think." Well this obviously isn't the case because I bought the neeo thinking this would be supported out of the box. Therefore, it's not closer than I think or else it would have been supported several months ago as we were made to believe. I'm to the point where i'm considering selling. If a major media console such as amazon fire tv is not supported how can I expect future technology/devices to be supported in a timely manner.

I understand that it's a massive undertaking and that neeo has a small development team so I understand, but consider me unimpressed thus far.

Grant A Booher Jamie Burgess It has recently been implied by two participants of the beta program that they’re already able to control their Amazon devices using NEEO. As a non-participant, I can’t verify this, and I don’t know any details about what control method is being used (for example, Bluetooth). However, it would seem plausible that this functionality might even be included as part of the long-awaited next firmware update. I’m sure we’ll all find out soon enough, since the “huge” firmware update was expected to be deployed before the end of January 2018 and the NEEO team are under increasing pressure to deliver it.

  • Just got Neeo and so far am happy, but am also waiting for Amazon Fire TV.

  • Ok I think I'm done watching my neeo sit on my coffee table doing nothing more than acting as a paper weight.   If update isn't pushed out by Friday then I'm planning to sell.   First come first serve.  $325

    • Grant A Booher I don't think most people here are willing to spend 100 $ more than what they paid for it on kickstarter...

Rolf Blidborg So you're saying customize the TV profile and add the Fire TV commands in that way? Interesting...

Also, I guess I could add a FLIRC IR receiver to the Fire...but the whole point is that I shouldn't have to do that, or worry about CEC.

  • You are correct.  My mistake. I looked at current pricing.  I'll likely post on eBay or some place else first.  Thanks
