Favorite Room / Behavior when only one room is required on NEEO

Hello,

I don't understand the logic of the UI on the remote.

So I set up my remote in bedroom, why do I have to always press Bedroom first to power on my TV? I don't want to. It's pretty much obvious, that most of the time I'm going to control the devices INSIDE the room the remote is located. It's handy to have an option to control TV/lighting in another room, but again, most of the time I want to control the current room only.

So please could you schedule a "default room" option, so whenever I pickup the remote, it's already selected.

Or correct me if I'm wrong and I miss the point, or it's already possible and just need to be setup *somehow*

  • We do think this depends a lot on the use case. I personally do have a pretty big setup with Z-Wave and Sonos devices which are in many different rooms. I therefore also need to have different rooms and a default room in my case would not make a lot of sense. With more and more drivers coming up which are not based on infrared, the actual position of the brain becomes less relevant.

    I see two approaches for this one:

    1. You only have one room on NEEO
    Is it right that you have only setup one room right now on NEEO? Maybe we should change the behavior for when you only have one room, meaning this one should always be open then since there are no other rooms anyways.

    2. You have multiple rooms on NEEO and you could set a favorite room
    I do like your idea of being able to set a default room or favorite room. How exactly would you imagine the behavior when you have multiple rooms and the option to set a favorite or default room? When exactly should the NEEO Remote jump to that room?

    Which of the two options did you have in mind? Or were you thinking about something completely different?

    I allowed myself to change the title and move this to the idea voting section.

  • Hello Patrick,

    Both approaches should be implemented I guess.

    In case I have only one room, it should be auto-selected, like I pressed the room icon. If I have more than one room, and fav room is configured, do the same, select it like it was pressed on the screen.

    Overall I see it like this:

    if (rooms.count == 1) rooms[0].select;
    if (rooms.count > 1 && rooms.hasFavouriteRoom) rooms[favouriteRoom].select;

    • Victor i'm with you. but what should NEEO do when you have multiple rooms?
      do i have to jump 3 times backwards to select a other room then? or how would you change the room if you have a fav room selected?

      nuro I'm not that familiar with Neeo that good yet to tell you the best way for sure, but as I wrote earlier, if you don't want to "jump 3 times backwards" (while I think there should be an option to get back to room selection in one touch, considering we have a touch screen which gives us a freedom to do what we want and need), you can avoid selecting a favourite room, this way you'll always have a room selection screen as your start point.

      if you don't push home NEEO will stay in the room you choosen.

      it works pretty well. i have a setup like patrick with a lot of rooms for all the sonos etc. but the main room is the living room. and every time i grab the remote the menu is in the living room zone. if i press home insted i can choose another.. :) but this behavior is normal, i think also for you? :)

      nuro You seem to be right! I didn't know the home button is dedicated just to Neeo GUI!
