Marantz SR-7400 - missing codes and extraneous codes, and bugs

This receiver is in the NEEO database. But it seems buggy. Here are some details.

  1. It's listed as a "little stupid", but AFAIK the only input/control that is a "toggle" is the analog (7.1) input - and this control is missing from the database. I really need this control, so please add it to the database. I use this input for watching (listening to) my Blu-ray player. (It would be awesome if you found a non-stupid control for this). (Perhaps the "Multi Speaker" option is also a toggle, but I never use this)
  2. There are a bunch of commands in the database for this device that don't make sense (Blu-ray [BD] and Bluetooth for example - this thing predates Blu-ray by a long way, so there's no Blu-ray input!). The only inputs are: TV, DVD, VCR1, DSS/VCR2, AUX1, CD-R, TAPE, CD, TUNER, AUX2 (and the above-mentioned 7.1 Analog). Please remove useless controls.
  3. The surround processing options (Auto, DD, CS-II, Source Direct, etc) don't seem to be listed, and there are a bunch of modes that don't work (e.g., "Mode Movie", "Mode Music").
  4. Also, there are 14 buttons shown on the second page - the bottom two buttons are halfway off the bottom of the screen so you can't see the text. Please fix.

  • Bill Clarke I guess our device driver team can fix 1-3 pretty quickly.

Could you post a screenshot/image for point 4? Or let me know if this happens on the NEEO Remote or within the NEEO app?

Many thanks for your feedback! This should be fixed. Please update your device according to this guide. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the extra codes.

    1. The analog multichannel input is 'dumb', as in it is a toggle. So while it works, once the amp is there it is stuck - NEEO doesn't know how to switch to a different input (it needs to "turn off" the analog input, then switch to the desired input. I don't know of a workaround.
    2. My issue #4 above is in the remote, not the app. It's still an issue. See image below.

Can you make a video where I can see the difference between the original command and the command that is sent with the NEEO remote? Thanks!

    • Andy to be clear, both the original remote and the NEEO remote (it appears) are using the same command for the analog input. The problem is that command is a toggle, not a discrete on or off, and the 7.1 analog input mode is sticky. Once the receiver is in 7.1 analog input mode, all other input change commands are ignored; i.e., you cannot directly switch to, say, the CD input. You have to "turn off" 7.1 analog input mode before you can switch the input.

The good news is, according to Marantz, there are discrete on and off 7.1 analog input IR commands. This means that (assuming you can add those commands to the NEEO, and the commands work) I can make recipes that reliably switch to a non-7.1 analog input input by always sending a "7.1 input OFF" command first, then the input switch command.

I found the Marantz IR commands via the US Marantz website: http://www.us.marantz.com/us/Support/Pages/Manuals.aspx (select "Receivers" -> "SR7400" -> "IR code list", which is an Excel spreadsheet. Here's a direct link:

      http://www.us.marantz.com/us/Support/Pages/Manuals.aspx?FileName=DocumentMaster/US/Marantz%20Master%20IR.xls

From the documentation it's not clear whether or not those codes are supported on the SR7400. Please add (at least) these two commands "7.1 (6.1)CH. Input ON" and "7.1 (6.1) CH. Input OFF", so I can test it out.

  • Hello Neeo team and users. I just experienced the great unboxing event,  thank you for bringing this great product finally to my home.

I replying in this topic, because I own a Marants SR-5400, having similar issues as the topic starter.

My main issue is that there is no Input VCR1 in the database, so my recipes cannot switch between audio from my Sonos Connect and IPTV set top box.

Can I bring this to your attention in this topic or should I start a new one?

    • Bart generally starting a new topic will be easier for the NEEO guys, now your post might get overlooked. I have tagged Andy from the driver team.

Andy , many thanks! That was really quickly solved.

I have more problems, for which I will open a new topic.
