Yamaha RX-V679

The switching to different inputs does not work. I have my Apple TV hooked up to HDMI 2 and the NEEO will not switch off of HDMI 1. I even tried AV1, or other input ports to no avail. All it did was switch it to a different "surround mode" when I used AV2.

Need an update to get the codes right.

I have other devices connected through this AV receiver, so without the ability to switch to the right input, the NEEO is pretty useless, except for turning on my cable TV.

The NEEO is so promising, but these glitches make one begin to lose faith..

  • I am having the same problem with a RX-V477 AVR. I found inputs that work for HDMI 1 and 2 when I choose show more inputs and test them all but it did not add it to the recipe. If I edit the recipe then those inputs are missing. It was something like Input 32. I can reset wiring and find it if that helps.

  • My input changes and Apple TV comes on but the remote will not control anything. I do have the beta software on the Apple TV but I did just install the GM version

Andy Thanks - this is working now. I have successfully switched back and forth between HDMI inputs, and AV inputs multiple times.

      Appreciate the speedy fix.

  • I have a Yamaha RX-V667 AVR and have the same problem. I can't choose the HDMI inputs to change to my Blu-ray, Apple TV3 or my Tivo. I also use the scene modes on my AVR to change the sound profile for each mode. Ideally I could change the HDMI and the scene mode. At this point all I can do is use the remote for each device but still have to use each remote separately which is the point of the remote for me. Please advise.

The input issue was fixed 2 days ago for another user. Please update your device according to this guide.

Let me know if you still have any issues with controlling this device.

  • Hi, I did the update yesterday and the ability to select the inputs in the recipes is still not there. I need it for the recipes and to change the input from the Neeo directly on the receiver so I can put the other remotes away. It did let me select an hdmi input when I set up the apple TV but I need it in the recipe command list as well.

  • As I add more capability to the remote I notice some key items are missing from the Yamaha AV's remote. Like When I set up Pandora, it starts everything fine, and volume controls work, but I can't change channels using the NEEO - I have to use the OEM remote. It seems this would be simple off the navigation control pad (the circle and OK button on the NEEO) were enabled.

Also I can't change the Yamaha "program". On the original remote there are a Program Up and Down button. This changes to different sound recipes - Adjusting the surround sound parameters etc..Could this be programmed onto the NEEO channel hard buttons?

      Hi again,

Regarding Pandora - There are two ways to achieve this. You can add the control pad widget from the AVR to the shortcut screen.

Or you could create a separate Pandora recipe. Within the recipe options of the app, there you can unhide the AVR and rename it to Pandora. The Cursor buttons of the AVR are already mapped correctly to the hard buttons if you do that.

Regarding the Program buttons - I have added the commands to your device. They are also mapped to CHANNEL UP and DOWN. Please be aware that you'll have to unhide the AVR and use the un-hided recipe to get them on the hard buttons. That said, I'm not 100% sure if for the device type AVR, the channels are mapped to the hard buttons. If not, let me know. I'll talk to the software team.

The new data will not appear before 1PM CET. Please update your device according to this guide.

      Thanks!

Andy I created a new Pandora recipe and un-hid the AVR. The Commands/shortcuts all show up but the hard buttons do nothing - except the volume control which works. SO the OK button and the circular controls do nothing.

Also the Program buttons don't seem to be mapped to the Channel up/down.

One other request..Once I have added the AVR commands they come as a bundle, which cover the whole of the NEEO remote screen on the first page, and are essentially useless, except for switching to other Inputs. Is it possible to edit that bundle, or give us the ability to delete some of them, like with Shortcuts?

      Thanks

      Hi again,

I was afraid so. I'll forward this to the software team and ask them to map these buttons to the hard buttons on the remote. But please be aware that it may take some time until this will be included to a future firmware release.

Same goes for being able to edit the screens. This was requested many times. We are going to add more customization option in a future firmware release.

  • I found the device update (I did the firmware update two days ago). Once I updated the device commands the HDMI showed. Looks like it's set up now. Thanks and I'll post if I run into any other challenges.

  • Hi  Andy

I have this AV, would it be possible to add the Scenes as inputs or just buttons so i can manually add into recipes. I use this instead of HDMI its allows sound type\leves and source per scene

If I understand your question correctly, yes. Just navigate in the options menu in the app to the recipes. Search for the recipe where the AVR is involved. There you can add, delete or change any command you want to have.
