Stupid Sony AVR

Hello

I'd like to setup a Tuner Recipe for my Sony BDV-E970W. The Sony remote does not have any input or function select buttons, only a funcion-scroll button. So I'm not able to power on the receiver and select tuner. The receiver will always power on with the last active function.

Is there a possibility to use any sony-discrete commands with Neeo to power up the receiver and set it to tuner?

Thanks for your help. Oliver

  • Hello Oliver Timme

You can add the same AVR, but add the Tuner version if you haven't already :). Let me know if this helps!

  • Please try to  add a receiver that does have these inputs (one os the ES series certainly have that) and try if these inputs work.

  • just got my NEEO and have the same problem.

I wonder since you enabled to choose directly on the Sony TV ( set as tuner) which input individual devices should go to - can you make the same for the inbuilt tuner in the BDV-E980...

Then it would be easy to set the receipe with access to the individual inputs (HDMI 1/2 etc...)

    • Doc Xerxes Oliver Timme  possibly Andy and the driver team can create a live IR codeset with a handful of discrete Sony command and you can check if any of them will do the job triggering your tuner discretely. It could then be added to the driver. I’m sure they will get back to you shortly. Thanks

      Many thanks for your feedback!

This screen is available for this device. The trick is to add your model a second time, namely the AVR part. This part is used for powering on and off of the device. Also it's used for the wiring. Just wire the AVR to whatever device actually is connected. Additionally, wire the TUNER part of the AVR to the input that switches to the tuner. And all should be fine. Hope this helps!

Andy  thanks for your help - a minor comment: the AVR option only reveals 2 inputs: TV and Sat/cable (missing HDMI1, HDMI2, AUDIO) - I currently bypassing the issue by choosing a fixed starting point like "input TV" - then I am able to move to the desired input by:

      "cursor up",

      "wait 2 seconds"

      "cursor up",

"cursor enter"... and voila HDMI 1 selected!   Not the most elegant way - but it does the job.

Many thanks for the info! We have just added the workaround The new data appears around 6PM CET. Please update your device.

If this is working reliably, please let me know how you can reach the other missing inputs via a workaround. That would be great! Thanks!

  • 🤔 that impressive customer support - thanks.

just to make sure i made it clear:

if that menu (see attachment) was available for all devices with multiple input options NEEO would be so much more flexible!
