IR reliability - Worked ok not so much lately

I have been using NEEO well over a month now. Initially I got recipes and devices working Ok. Almost as good as with Harmony exect one ”stupid” device for which I added the power toggle command to start and leave recipes. At this point I was was in very similar situatiom as with Harmony = happy and ready to introduce the remote to not techy wife. And all things worked ok for a while.

Lately I have noticed (and got feedback) that my audio device won’t turn on every time I choose the ”watch TV” recipe. It’s not stupid device (has own power ON & OFF commands)  it seems that power on just isn’t sent every time. Usually everything works ok after leaving the recipe and choosing it again.

Then I have seen almost daily now that with same recipe the IPTV box is first powered ON but seconds later powered OFF. IPTV box is stupid and having only power toggle but it’s still strange that it seems that brain is sending the power command twice although recipe has it once. This I can fix from the remote by pressing the stupid device button. With Harmony (after initial config nightmare) I didn’t have any issue to power ON or OFF this device via IR so I know that it can work 100% as it did with NEEO as well.

With same recipe TV has also sometimes not turned on. For TV I have placed the IR repeater(?) under the TV as brain and all other devices are in closed cabinet near each other. TV is not stupid either so it’s weird that sometimes it just (apparently) won’t get the power ON command?

Lastly I have Apple TV 3 in different recipe through but with same TV and audio device and there always powering things ON works all the time OK but lately I have noticed that I can’t control the ATV3 at all. I can see the ATV main menu but hard button cursors won’t do anything.  I can solve this by leaving the recipe (everything shuts down) and selecting it again immediately. Weird behavior again.  

As I stated before I have now used NEEO for while now and when I got it I created the recipes  which have worked fine during the first weeks. I have no idea why I have now these issues as I have’t changed the recipes nor changed brain or IR repeater placement. Audio device, IPTV box and ATV3 are all sitting around the brain within 5cm apart from the brain. From recipe point of view I can’t see that new commands have popped up either. All I can see is that using the recipes doesn’t work like before. I’m also super puzzled why ATV isn’t conrollable on first try but is on second try. This also worked well before.

  • Hi  Miikka Myllylä Thank you for reaching out to us and posting this. Have you tried powering off the NEEO Brain and powering it back on? 

    For the Apple Tv, when you're in that recipe. Using the app, add the shortcut for the ATV that is called "Unpair". When you add it, tap on it once and let me know if this helps solve the issue where it does not work the first time around. It may not solve it, but I feel it's a good step to try.

      I have powered off the brain few weeks ago to get new channel logos. I can do it again to see if it helps.

      For Apple TV, ok I haven't done "unpairing". Just to be sure: should add the shortcut and use it once? And then normally start the recipe and hope it works better?

      Miikka Myllylä Yup, try powering off the NEEO Brain and see if this helps. You can also try deleting the devices and re-adding them.

      For the ATV, exactly what you said :). Let me know if the unpairing helps any.

      Hi! Some status for this: Brain reboot did nothing unfortunately. This is still happening daily. :(

      Been busy but I'll try to create those recipes/devices again if that helps. This is super frustrating as you need to start recipe to find out that some devices are not powered on (or are put on but then put off!) so you need to put all off again and start recipe again and hope this time all devices are powered correctly. As I have said before I only have one "stupid" device and this is happening also with those "smart" devices which I can't understand why.
