sunrise TV Box UHD not responding at all

I got my sunrise TV Box UHD and added it to NEEO.

However, no command is doing anything.

Has anybody else this problem?

  • By the way, this does not look like a Infrared device at all. I had to pair the remote that came with it.....

  • As I see here https://www.sunrise.ch/de/privatkunden/internet-tv/smart-tv/sunrise-tv-box-uhd.html it is a bluetooth device.

How can I connect it to brain using Bluetooth?

    • Jan Pete Hello, we are working together with Sunrise to find a solution as quickly as possible. Chances are good we will find a solution based on Bluetooth so that no additional receivers will be required. However, we cannot define a date yet on when this will be published. Regards,

      Emily

Hopefully this is coming soon. Without it makes no Sense for me using neeo as by now:

-watching tv using sunrise uhd: not supported as by now and I am not willing to buy an adapter

-controlling shutters via somfy; not supported, or I have to use some sort of gateway, which I am willing to do but had no time to digg in yet

I was expecting that neeo  would support more than just ir natively. I fifnt want to set up additional devices and dev environments in order to control my pretty simple setup.....

    • Emily I hope it will work out with Sunrise. For me it makes little sense to use the NEEO, if I can not operate the box.

      Thanks for the effort

Emily Thank you for the information, I hope you find a solution (very) soon! As for the others here, my Neeo is not really usable, therefore not even in use. Is there a workaround in the meanwhile?

Emily Any update from Sunrise? Has the team found a workaround?

and to add on: I find it quite unfair that you still list the Sunrise UHD on the homepage as device neeo works with.

  • Emily is there any news? I also have this box and would be glad if the NEEO would support dise.

Emily hope also that neeo will find a solution for the sunrise uhd box from sagemcom soon.

it makes absolutely no sense for me if the box isn‘t working.

may be neeo have to contact sagemcom for a solution.

      hope so...

  • I bought a NEEO because in the Device Compatibility "Sunrise TV UHD" is listed. Sunrise TV UHD is the sagemcom - box. Hope the solution comes soon...

  • Jup an update would be welcome. So far I have little automation and would use neeo mainly in the living room. As no native bt support for sunrise uhd box, I have no use for neeo so far :-(

  • Seriously, this takes way too long.

I absolutely agree with Jan Pete an update would be more as welcome. Can‘t use the potential of the remote.

  • Larry Ricco Jan Pete I'm sorry for the late response. The team is still working on a reliable implementation.  I'm sorry that I have no better news at the moment. If you look for a workaround, another user tried FLIRC with the Sunrise UHD Box which seems to work fine. You can find some information from the user over here.

Emily Ingrid I still have no plans buying a Dongle in order for communicate with it by Infrared.

The device is listed as working with neeo but obviously it is still not.

The topic is open over a year now with no visible progress.

Is there anything going on? I mean if somebody would have worked on it by now cleary a solution would have been found.

      Do you have more details?

      Work every button fine?

What about the installation? Do you have any tips for the installation? Maybe a tutorial?

      Christian Meyer Roland Berner

I bought this FLIRC dongle and try to set it up, but somehow i struggle to make it running.

      what I did:

      1. Plug in the FLIRC into computer, launched flirc app loaded config file
      2. Plugged in the FLIRC dongle into the sunrise box

      3. Started neeo app and tried to configure it, but still same problem with stupid devide :(

I would also really need some more detailed description, please.

  • I see that this dongle would be a Workaround.  But I do not want to spend more money on this as it is a worse solution and neeo and uhd box both have native bluetooth capabilities...

    • Jan Pete Bluetooth itself is just a way to set up communication between devices. This alone isn’t enough to be able to do anything useful with it. In most cases the actual command protocols need to be reverse engineered before it’s even possible to make a useful driver out of it. In some cases emulating a keyboard works but still it needs to bind keys to buttons and functions. This is exactly the reason why for instance a TV with Bluetooth won’t talk to a setup box using Bluetooth. For IP it’s similar with the exception that on Bluetooth it is at least possible to emulate a keyboard and with IP you cannot.

If your device supports a Bluetooth keyboard then I foresee a good chance it will be possible one day.

flirc Isn’t free but it isn’t expensive either and enables control of your device right away, especially if you use such a device often it’s IMHO money well spent.

Niels de Klerk I appreciate your opinion. However the device was listed as works with neeo without additional required gear mentioned.... I do not question that it is not an easy way, but in my opinion communicate with the device directly is better than via a middleware device changing technology....

In the German HiFi Forum http://www.hifi-forum.de/index.php?action=browseT&forum_id=122&thread=5514&back=1&sort=lpost&z=2 i have also posted the problem.

    1. Load configuration to the dongle with the FLIRC tool on the computer.

    2. Plug the dongle into the Sunrise UHD box.

    3. Select the "Sunrise TV 500" device and configure the NEEO remote control completely.

    It should work now.

      Roland Berner

Thanks Roland, sounds simple. two questions just to be sure I don't have a mistake there...

      1) open flirc tool, plug in dongle (and select the confic file). Message "File Restored" is the output I get, right? Afterward I plug it into my Sunrise box.

      2) Do I need to redo my whole neeo config or only the particular device?

      You're welcome.

To point 1:  Yes that's right.

Point 2:  You have to retrieve the Sunrise Box in the device file and then, when you first select the new recipe, follow the wizard. After that it should work.

Let me know if it worked.

  • Ingrid Hello, is there any news on this topic? What about the integration of the Sunrise Box?

    • Hi,  Roland Berner.

In general, the first Bluetooth LE-based drivers are running for internal testing. Due to the NEEO Brain handling a whole bunch of different frequencies and protocols the testing procedures are quite extensive to verify that the implementation does not cause any interferences.

In regards to the sunrise TV, we are working together with the according company to figure out possible solutions. Unfortunately, it was never intended to replace the original remote on the sunrise TV, therefore proper procedures are not in place and the pairing process needs to be analysed and documented before a driver may be published. Other means of control like using an API have turned out to be no possible options.

Unfortunately, this all takes time while we are also waiting for additional information. I promise that we are not giving up and we will let you know as soon as we found the best solution.

it has been 11mt now since this topic has been opened. I'm not able to use the remote as the core use case (tv remote) is not possible.

Where are you guys standing at the moment and can we expect it to work soon?

At least I would expect a monthly update on the topic.

  • After seeing under "Works with Neeo" that the SUNRISE UHD TV is currently being added, I promptly ordered the NEEO last week! Now I wish I had read this thread before...
Is there any way to speed up the integration?

    • Jan Pete Please note that Sunrise TV 400 and Sunrise TV 500 are listed as they are actually working with NEEO. You can see the status "Your device is in the NEEO library". When you search for Sunrise TV UHD here, you will see the note "(currently being added)", which means it is not yet supported.

As I mentioned above we will let you know as soon we have a solution for this, which unfortunately is not yet finally resolved. You are right this topic is in progress for a year now, and I'm sorry that I have no better news for you also at this time.

Ingrid so then the note "currently being added" is VERY missleading. "currently being added" for me means it will be ready in the next couple of days/weeks and I as a costumer would think I can buy a NEEO to control my Sunrise UHD box soon.

So I can understand the frustration of sunrise customers who bought the NEEO to control their whole multimedia system.

(It's the same as I bought the NEEO because Raphael promised that I will be able to control my Swisscom Box in the near future over Blutooth... this was around 2 years ago)
