Anybody know how to make a recipe for turning all my z-wave lights on and off with one button?

  • Make a new recipe and add your lights...

  • Thanks a bunch!!! Don't know why i didn't see this before as it is just like normal recipes, but it worked like a charm.. Could be nice to have this as a toggle switch instead of two buttons though..

  • Hi Guys, I have a question and you might be able to help. I currently have 4 remotes in my dedicated theatre room (Lights, blu ray player, processor, projector). For lights I would have to replace the in-wall relay switch with a similar Neeo compatible Z-Wave relay switch. I could have a battery operated Z-wave single-gang (on/off) switch outside my theatre room that controls the Z-Wave relay switch inside the theatre room. This would allow me to switch on the lights before entering the theatre room. I want to be able to control the lights manually from the Neeo. However, often in the middle of the movie, someone needs to go to the toilet or grab a drink. Hence, is there a way to have the lights come on when I hit the pause button and go off when I hit the play button o resume the movie ? This ability would be awesome.

Furthermore, if I have a device that is not in the Neeo database (e.g. my processor), is it possible to record the on/off and some of the button commands such as volume, sound format and speaker levels ?

Dont see how you could get that functionality from a single click on the pause button but you could create a “toilet” recipe that pauses the movie (assuming you always use the same device to play movies) and turn on specific lights at specific levels. But it probably makes more sense to hit the pause button first and use the recipe for the lights only ...

With future firmware releases one would expect we get the possibility to assign specific functions to hardware buttons, if those also include recipes I guess you could achieve what you are looking for. Create “toilet recipes” for each source device you have (so the pause button pauses the correct device) and then assign that recipe to the pause button. You’d need a similar solution for resuming the movie.

    • Sam Ash if you post the model and make then I’m sure that Andy can add a driver for it.

automating lights with play/pause isn’t going to work. What you need to do is to monitor the playing state. On a regular Blu-ray player this might be difficult. On a AVE this isn’t to hard to build in most cases. One option is to poll the audio encoding for instance. Have lights on when PCM/no audio is detected. Turn the lights to 1% or 0% when it’s a Dolby or DTS stream. This isn’t currently possible out of the box with only a NEEO but with some will and time this is all possible.

with media playing software like Kodi this should be most easy.
