Bose Lifestyle 650

Unable to control any function on the Bose Lifestyle 650. I chose the options available “Bose Lifestyle 650 AVR” and “Bose Lifestyle 650 Mediaplayer. Both options not working. No power on/off or volume.  Already tried positioning the brain in numerous areas, but still no luck.

  • Sok Soth Is your device capable to be controled via infrared? if so, maybe the codes are not yet available. For adding or tweaking the NEEO database Andy is responsible. He comes back to you as soon as he has new informations.

Markus Mahr I don’t think it uses infrared because I can use the original remote from a different room without line of sight.

This device is also capable of listening to IR signal. But you have to set it on IR control. This can be done in the options menu of your Bose device. By default, it only listens to the original remote, which is not IR. Let me know if you need any further help! Thanks!

Andy I cannot seem to locate the options menu on the Bose. I can get to the setup menu, but there’s no option to set it to IR control.

I've checked this again. No need for switching to IR with this Bose model. It already listens to IR. But within the manual, they recommend to attach the included IR receiver, if it not works with a third party IR remote. Please see here on page 32: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1227442/Bose-Lifestyle-650.html?page=32

You should have an IR receiver from Bose. But it should already work without it. Please try to find a better position of the brain. It has to be perfectly in line of sight with the IR eye at the Bose device or the receiver.
That the 650 works in general we know for sure from other customers. Also, if you are not sure how to add it and which part of it please see here for an explanation for so-called combo devices.

Also, as much as I know, Bose uses RF, not Bluetooth as default control method - besides being able to listen to IR signals, too.

      Hope this helps!

nuro I pretty sure you’re right about the Bose having a Bluetooth remote control. It just sucks not being able to get away with just using one remote.

Andy Markus Mahr nuro Thank you guys for all your help. Finally got it to work with the Bose Lifestyle 650. After Andy’s suggestion on moving the brain, I finally found the location where it will work. The brain is now basically sitting side by side with the Bose receiver. All the functions are working. Thanks again guys for your help.
